Student Drop-off and Pick-up: Camp starts at 9 a.m. and ends at 5 p.m. Special arrangements can be made with staff to drop off students as early as 8 a.m. and pick up by 6 p.m. at an additional charge of $30. For your child's safety, campers must be signed in and out by a parent or guardian. If your child is to be picked up by anyone other than a parent or legal guardian you must notify us in writing and they must present a current driver's license for identification.
What do we need to bring? Capricorn provides the horses, tack, and helmets*. Our facility also includes a lunchroom and refrigerators for campers to use. Remember, most of the day will be spent outside, so take that into account when preparing your child for each day of camp. If in doubt about whether to bring something, please consult our staff— they’re happy to help. Following is a list of items we ask campers to bring. Parents will be provided additional information upon registration.
- - Sack lunch and snacks
- - Plenty of water
- - Long pants and hard sole shoes or boots to ride in
- - A comfortable change of clothes for non-riding activities
- - Horse treats (optional)
*Students under 18 must wear protective headgear, so riding helmets are furnished. However, students can wear bike helmets with written parental permission.
What will they do? Campers are divided into groups according to riding experience, comfort level, or age. Groups are then taught safety around horses, how to saddle and bridle, and are matched to a horse with the camper’s needs in mind. Every day features two one-hour lessons on horseback. In addition to riding, campers will learn about taking care of horses by helping with traditional barn chores like feeding, watering, and grooming horses as well as cleaning the barn area. Other activities may include outside games, arts and crafts, games on horseback, and horse costume/grooming contests.
How do I register? Print off a copy of the Registration Form, fill it out and mail it along with your payment to the address on the form. Please note participants are only registered upon receipt of payment and signed registration form. Fees cannot be pro-rated.
A Liability and Medical Consent Form will need to be completed by a parent or legal guardian upon arrival on the first day of camp. You may print off the forms by clicking on the links provided or if you would like a copy mailed prior to camp to help streamline the registration process, please call or email your request and leave your name, address and a contact phone number. The form will be sent to you.
Also, please fill out and send in the Photo Consent Form to allow us to use photographs for promotional purposes only.
